How to Build a Capsule Wardrobe
Make more outfits with fewer pieces. A guide to building a timeless and stylish capsule wardrobe.
Standing in front of the wardrobe every morning and saying 'I have nothing to wear' is a common problem we all experience. The capsule wardrobe concept eliminates this decision fatigue and helps you save both time and money.
A capsule wardrobe is a personal collection of timeless, quality garments in a limited number (usually 30-40 pieces) that can easily be matched with each other. Instead of being a victim of trends in this system, you define your own style and signature pieces.
The first step in creating a capsule wardrobe is a wardrobe detox. Set aside all the clothes you haven't worn in the past year, that don't fit you, or that are worn out. From the remaining pieces, choose your base colors (black, white, beige, navy) and your accent colors.
Invest in timeless pieces that will be the cornerstones of your wardrobe: a quality trench coat, a well-cut pair of jeans, white basic t-shirts, black fabric trousers, and a leather jacket.
Finding your personal style is a process of discovery. By experimenting with different fabrics, colors, and cuts, you can determine the silhouette in which you feel most comfortable and confident.
Never underestimate the power of accessories. You can elevate even a basic jean-and-tee look with a chic belt, a quality bag, or elegant jewelry.
